Crowns & Bridges

A crown is a permanent “cap” that fits over an original tooth that is decayed, damaged or cracked. This covering fits at the gum line in order to restore the tooth’s structure and function. Treatment for a crown involves: numbing of the tooth to remove decay, re-sculpting the tooth, an impression of the prepared tooth, and fitting the permanent crown which is done during the second visit which is typically 2 weeks later. There are many different types of crowns that you can choose from depending on location, function, and esthetic factors of the tooth, so be sure to ask us about the type of crown that is best suited for you.

A bridge is a permanent restoration that fills a space where a tooth or teeth previously occupied and consists of a filler tooth that is attached to two or more adjacent prepared teeth. Depending on the location and the span of the missing area, a design of the bridge and a number of teeth that are involved are determined. The preparation and delivery visits are very similar to that of a single crown preparation.
